Capital Campaign
At Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, we are committed to continually evaluating how we can best meet the needs of our students while building on the strengths that define the NSA experience. The Saints Go Marching On, our $10 million capital campaign, puts that commitment into action by investing in the people, programs and places that will shape the future of our school.
The campaign reflects the priorities outlined in our strategic plan, with a focus on creating meaningful opportunities for our students, supporting the faculty and staff who inspire them, enhancing the spaces where our community learns and connects and positioning NSA for continued success.
Campaign Priorities
Empowered Educators
- Amphitheater enhancements - Henderson Hannah Courtyard (complete)
- Enhanced community spaces (lounges, workrooms and areas for small meetings)
- Enhanced classroom furniture, lighting and flooring
- Professional development opportunities
Improved Programs and Facilities
- Renovated Hawks Library (complete)
- Renovated Becky Godwin Memorial Lower School Library (complete)
- Outdoor sports courts at the Harbour View Campus and the Main Campus (complete)
- Floating dock, Bernie's Landing (complete)
- New maintenance facility located near the baseball facility on the Main Campus (in progress)
- Enhancements to the hallways and classrooms (lighting, flooring and furniture)
- Makerspace enhancements at the Harbour View Campus and enhancements in the Innovation Lab on the Main Campus (Esports equipment, huddle rooms, machine tools and 3D printers)
- Garden enhancements on both campuses
- Additions to the playgrounds on both campuses (new equipment and shaded areas)
- Community spaces created on the Main Campus (patio areas adjacent to the Cafeteria and the Upper School as well as the addition of picnic tables and Adirondack chairs on both campuses)
Increased Safety
- New entrance to the Main Campus with welcome center and additional parking
- New curbing installed at the Main Campus to improve accessibility
- Additional security cameras installed on both campuses
- Data failover system to improve accessibility and communication with our families during power failures and emergencies
Expanded Arts
- Nancy Russell Auditorium lighting, acoustics and staging
- Cafetorium lighting, acoustics and staging
Enhanced Athletics
- Stadium seating and lighting (complete)
- New press box (complete)
- Upgraded concession stand, restroom facility and storage facility
- New synthetic, state-of-the-art 6-lane track and grass field
Increased Endowment
- Enhancing NSA's endowment through planned/deferred gifts and membership in the Saints Society

Thanks to the generosity of our community, campaign investments are already making a meaningful difference across NSA.
What's Next
Our progress is significant, but there is more to accomplish. Continued support for The Saints Go Marching On will help bring the next phase of our vision to life across both campuses.
