Richard Murphy received a B.S. in systems engineering with a concentration in computer science from the University of Virginia. Before arriving at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, he was the business manager at a family-owned business in Portsmouth, VA. His background is in finance and leasing, information systems and computer programming. He obtained his teaching licensure through Old Dominion University and is now teaching Algebra II/Trig and Honors PreCalculus. He and his wife, Peggy, have three children. Their youngest daughter, Bridget, is a 2015 graduate of NSA.
