Suffolk's Wren shoots 69, advances to match play at VSGA Am
Suffolk’s Trey Wren shot a 3-under 69 Wednesday and finished in a tie for second in stroke-play qualifying at the VSGA Amateur. Wren, a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and a rising sophomore at Temple, double-bogeyed his first hole, but had five birdies and no bogeys the rest of the way. He tied for the lowest round of the day and was one of just two players to break 70 on the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech.
He shot even-par 144 for two rounds, three strokes behind medalist Joey Lane, a rising senior at Virginia Tech.
