Led by Birdsong, Nansemond-Suffolk looking to sweep TCIS Conference Titles

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ basketball team won the regular season TCIS Conference title this season, and led by coach Kim Aston, look to sweep the tournament title as well this week.

Aston, is a 1988 graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk. In her playing career as a Saint, Aston scored over 1500 points, garnering a plethora of college offers before deciding on ODU. Once there, she became a team captain in her senior year and helped to lead the lady Monarchs to the NCAA tournament multiple times and in 2007 she returned to coach the team she once played for.

“It feels good being able to come back and coach, I take a lot of pride in the teams I played for while I was here, It felt like home coming back.” Aston said.
