Students help out Suffolk's needy pets

Christmas was filled with lots of love for needy cats and dogs at Suffolk’s two pet care facilities this year thanks to the efforts of some little saints. A holiday toys and supplies drive by lower and middle school students at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in December benefited pets at Suffolk Animal Care and the Suffolk Humane Society. Members of the lower school’s Animal Lovers Club and the middle school’s Saints for Paws collaborated on the drive.

Kimberly Brinkley, group leader for the lower school, said between $500 and 700 in supplies was collected. Included were food, treats, blankets, beds, kitty litter and toys.
