Giles on track to run away with NSA's rushing record

Anthony and Tracey Giles didn't want their son to play varsity football when he was a freshman. "My wife and I both had skepticism as far as him being mentally and physically ready to play at that level," Anthony said.

Nansemond-Suffolk coach Lew Johnston understood, but told them Noah was capable. They agreed Noah would play only at cornerback. During one blowout, Johnston pulled his starters and played his second- and third-team offense and put Giles in at running back. Whether it was fear, talent or a little bit of both, Giles made the most of his first varsity carry.
