Academics
Upper School

Program

Upper School students are inspired to pursue their passions and are challenged to reach their potential.
With guidance from the faculty, administration and college counselors, Upper School students have the freedom to chart their own courses of study to serve their interests and academic goals. Numerous A.P., honors and college preparatory courses are offered to ensure that students are appropriately challenged and engaged throughout their Upper School years. In addition to our core curriculum, NSA also offers online courses through the Hybrid Learning Consortium (HLC), founded and directed by the Barstow School. The HLC is a collective of independent schools from around the world that develops high quality, rigorous, online courses for Upper School students. The courses are taught by faculty members from participating schools who are experts in their field. They are committed to excellence and to preserving the rich personal elements of classroom teaching – qualities that we value at NSA. Students have access to a variety of courses to further explore their passions and to build global connections, all while using innovative technology that they will use again in college and in the workplace.
