Admissions Process
Thank you for your interest in Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. Here are the steps to take to complete the admissions process for your child. Please contact the Office of Admissions, at (757)539-8789 with any questions.
1. Campus Tour
Schedule a campus tour with the Office of Admissions. Parent and child are encouraged to attend.
2.Submit Application (and all required documentation)
Parents should complete the application for admission, which is available online only. Please click on "Apply for Admission" at the top of this page to access the application. A non-refundable fee of $50 is required with each application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. In addition to the application, the following items must be submitted:
Grades 2-3: Teacher recommendation (2) - one must be from a classroom teacher; Records Release Form
3. Participate in a Shadow Experience (during the academic year)
Pre-Kindergarten applicants will participate in a playgroup on designated dates. Shadow experiences should be scheduled through the Office of Admissions.
4. Admissions Testing
Upon receipt of application, admissions testing will be scheduled by the Office of Admissions for students in grades K-3. Applicants in grades 2-3 are encouraged to participate in the group testing day, which is held in late January. Individual testing appointments are scheduled thereafter. An application must be submitted before attending the testing session.
5. Admissions Committee Review
All completed applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee to determine whether the student and NSA are an appropriate match. Parents are then notified of the admissions decision. The following factors are considered for admission to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy:
The applicant's developmental readiness and/or level of academic achievement
Evidence of the applicant's potential for success in our academic program
Evaluation of the applicant's personal qualities and the potential contribution the applicant will make to the school community
Evidence of parental cooperation and support
6. Enrollment
An offer of enrollment must be confirmed by submitting the enrollment contract along with the required non-refundable enrollment deposit by the designated date. Upon enrollment, immunization records and an up-to-date physical must be provided. Tuition assistance is available to those who qualify based on need.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy admits qualified students without regard to race, color, ethnic background, national origin, handicapped status, sexual orientation or religion.
