The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Art Show and Sale attracts artists and art connoisseurs throughout Hampton Roads. The show takes place the last week in January through the first week in February. Admission is free, and the community is welcome. The NSA Art Show and Sale boasts a wonderful diversity of media from over 150 artists, including paintings and multimedia works of art. Prices range from $25 to $7,000. While the works of art beautifully adorn the Lower School hallways, teachers also use the Art Show and Sale as an opportunity to incorporate the art and artists’ displays into their curriculum.
SPONSOR
Demonstrate your support for the NSA Arts Program at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy through your advance commitment to purchase original artwork during the Art Show and Sale. Art Show and Sale sponsors will be invited to preview artwork before the opening day of the show at the Sponsors' Reception. Sponsors will also be recognized in the program and on the sponsor board at the Art Show and Sale. From each sponsorship level, $150 will be retained as a tax-deductible gift to NSA.

VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are needed to assist with the NSA Art Show and Sale committee and help during the week-long event. Volunteers are needed to assist with artist check-in, hanging, sales, receptions, artist check-out and much more! The time commitment will vary.
Hanging and Displaying Artwork
Volunteers are needed to assist with hanging flat art and displaying multimedia art Thursday, January 14, Friday, January 15, and Tuesday, January 19, through Thursday, January 21. Morning and afternoon shifts are available from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The time commitment may vary based on the availability of the volunteer.
Sales
Volunteers are needed from Saturday, January 23 through Sunday, January 31. Volunteers will greet art show attendees and will assist with art sales by completing receipts and sales transactions. Morning shifts (8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) and afternoon shifts (12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.) are available.
Student Performers
Student performers are needed to volunteer their talents Saturday, January 23, Sunday, January 24, Saturday, January 30, and Sunday, January 31. Students will perform during a solo shift ranging from 30 minutes to one hour. If your child (1st–12th grade) has a musical talent that he or she would like to share during the Art Show and Sale, please contact Melissa Hlinovsky '02 at mhlinovsky@nsacademy.org.
Check-in and Check-out of Artwork
Volunteers are needed to assist with the check-in and check-out of artwork. Artwork check-in will take place Thursday, January 14, and Friday, January 15. Artwork check-out will take place Thursday, February 4. Morning and afternoon shifts are available from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The time commitment may vary based on the availability of the volunteer.
Typing
Volunteers are needed to assist with typing tags for artwork Thursday, January 14, Friday, January 15, Tuesday, January 19, through Thursday, January 21, and on Saturday, January 23. Morning and afternoon shifts are available from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The time commitment may vary based on the availability of the volunteer.
ARTISTS
New and established artists are invited to submit their artwork to be selected for the show. Art Show and Sale applications are mailed in the summer. Artist applicants are asked to submit three to five photographs of their work. All works are juried by the NSA Art Show and Sale Selection Committee. Artists will be notified of the jury’s decision by the end of the summer. The application process is closed for the 2021 Art Show and Sale.
