2.Submit Application (and all required documentation)
Parents should complete the application for admission, which is available online only. A non-refundable fee of $50 is required with each application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. In addition to the application, the following items must be submitted:
Pre-K 2, 3 and 4: Parent Questionnaire and (1) Teacher Recommendation (if applicable)
Grade K–1: (1) Teacher Recommendation; Parent Questionnaire; Records Release Form (Grade 1 only)
Grades 2–5: (2) Teacher Recommendations; Parent Questionnaire; Records Release Form
Grades 6–12: (2) Teacher Recommendations; Records Release Form
3. Participate in a Shadow Experience (during the academic year)
Pre-kindergarten applicants will participate in a playgroup on designated dates. Shadow experiences should be scheduled through the Office of Admissions.
4. Admissions Testing
Upon receipt of the application, admissions testing will be scheduled by the Office of Admissions for students in grades K- 12. An application must be submitted before testing can be scheduled.
5. Admissions Committee Review
All completed applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee to determine whether the student and NSA are an appropriate match. Parents are then notified of the admissions decision. The following factors are considered for admission to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy:
The applicant's developmental readiness and/or level of academic achievement
Evidence of the applicant's potential for success in our academic program
Evaluation of the applicant's personal qualities and the potential contribution the applicant will make to the school community
Evidence of parental cooperation and support
An offer of enrollment must be confirmed by submitting the Enrollment Contract along with the required non-refundable enrollment deposit by the designated date. Upon enrollment, immunization records and an up-to-date physical must be provided. Tuition assistance is available to those who qualify based on need.
