Visiting Artist Gallery Features Former Head of School Dr. Doug Naismith

Dr. Doug Naismith Visiting Artist Gallery

We are excited to continue our partnership with Cedar Point Club's Visiting Artist Gallery.

From now through the end of the summer, artwork from Dr. Doug Naismith will be on display and for sale at Cedar Point. When his artwork is sold, 35 percent of the proceeds will benefit the NSA Arts Program, and 65 percent will be paid to the artist. All of the pieces for sale are freehand drawings, created without a ruler or straight edge. Occasionally, colored pencils are added, but only after the drawing has been completed in pen and ink.

In addition to the Visiting Artist Gallery partnership, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and Cedar Point Club have also partnered to offer a Saints Membership Plan, which offers discounted club membership rates for NSA families. To inquire about the Cedar Point Club Saints Membership Plan or to visit Cedar Point to see Dr. Naismith's work, please call (757) 238-2275 or visit www.cedarpointclub.com.

Dr. Doug Naismith

Dr. Doug Naismith has been doodling, scribbling and cartooning forever. In grade school, his favorite subject was finger painting. In high school, it was mechanical drawing and lettering. In college, he advanced to anatomical drawings of faces, hands and bodies. When he moved to Suffolk in 1975, his focus became pen and ink drawings of the homes, businesses, boats and pets of local friends and associates. Today, his custom drawings are favorite auction items at local charity auctions. When not working for a client, he enjoys documenting scenes from the many trips he and Mary Jane have taken since his retirement in 2005 as head of school at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
