Ashley Bush '24, Will Henderson '25 and Graham Webb '25 have been recognized as emerging young leaders in Hampton Roads.
On May 2, Ashley, Will, Graham and other young people in Hampton Roads were honored during a ceremony as members of the Hampton Roads Workforce Council's Top 20 Under Twenty list. The list is comprised of young people whose achievements in the workforce or the community stand out from their peers and who are excelling beyond what would be expected at the person’s age. The Hampton Roads Workforce Council considers those on its 20 under Twenty list as rising leaders in the 757 region.
According to the Hampton Roads Workforce Council's website, nominees for the 20 Under Twenty list take charge and motivate within their place of employment, demonstrate leadership, take initiative and seek innovative solutions to work-related challenges. Nominees also demonstrate an ability to utilize available resources, knowledge and connections with community members to create value in Hampton Roads through the launching of their own business or nonprofit ventures. 20 Under Twenty nominees also provide valuable service by contributing significant time and energy into the community, including but not limited to volunteering and civic engagement.
Ashley received her nomination for her outstanding community service and volunteer hours, which include leading NSA's Mental Wellness Club, serving as NSA Student Council secretary and being a member of the NSA Honor Council. Outside of school, Ashley volunteers with Jack and Jill of America's Norfolk Chapter and Ronald McDonald House.
Will and Graham received their nominations for a joint project they completed in downtown Suffolk. The pair built an outdoor, freestanding food pantry near St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Main Street. The food pantry is stocked at all times for community members in need.
