Three generations of dentists in Suffolk overcome COVID-19 obstacles to continue working together for patients

Dr. Ralph Howell '78, Dr. Dani Howell '06 and Lauren Billings '03 were recently featured in Inside Business about navigating the pandemic and continuing to serve patients at Howell Comprehensive General Dentistry, A Division of Atlantic Dental Care, PLC. 

Dr. Dani Howell '06 was on her way to becoming a lawyer years ago when she volunteered alongside her dentist dad on a Mission of Mercy project in Southwest Virginia. An encounter during that mission with a young, single mother who had all of her teeth extracted and a full set of dentures in place led Dani Howell to become hooked on dentistry. The Virginia Dental Association Foundation program provides dental care for underserved Virginians.

“Seeing the difference you can make in somebody’s life is pretty impactful,” she said.

Howell decided to change her career path and instead follow in the footsteps of her father, Dr. Ralph Howell, and her grandfather, Dr. Leroy Howell, to become a third-generation dentist. Continue reading the article on pilotonline.com.
