Thomas Cooke '25 has reached a major milestone in his Scouting journey by earning the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest honor awarded by the Scouts BSA program. This accomplishment reflects his commitment to community service, as well as the perseverance, leadership and dedication he has shown over more than a decade in Scouting.
Thomas started Scouting when he joined Cub Scout Pack 215 in 2012. During those early years, he embraced opportunities to grow, explore and develop his outdoor skills. He advanced through the ranks of Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos before ultimately earning the Arrow of Light in 2017 and crossing over to Boy Scouts.
As a Boy Scout, Thomas participated in a variety of events that helped him practice and hone Scout skills. He learned how to adapt to cold weather camping at the Pipsico Klondike Derby, cultivated strong teamwork skills at the Zomboree, put his strength and agility to the test at the Highlander Games and more. He also connected with Scouts from across the region at various summer camps in Virginia and North Carolina. Along the way, Thomas earned 27 merit badges while advancing through the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot Scout, 2nd Class Scout, 1st Class Scout, Star Scout and Life Scout. In 2023, he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, which is the honor society of Scouting America.
In the summer of 2024, Thomas began working on his Eagle Scout project. He designed and built two custom wooden benches for Autumn Care in Suffolk, providing comfort and outdoor seating for residents and visitors. After completing his project, Thomas earned the rank of Eagle on September 14. His work was officially recognized during his Eagle Scout Court of Honor, which was held on April 13.
Congratulations to Thomas on this accomplishment!
