With the 2024 MLB Draft set to kick off Sunday, July 14, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy alumnus Zac Morris '19 has been playing with the Peninsula Pilots. Morris played his last home game with the club before the draft Wednesday night as the Pilots hosted the Wilson Tobs.
The Pilots went on to beat Wilson 14-4. Morris finished the game, walking twice and scoring three runs in the win.
The Pilots started fast, scoring three runs in the home half of the first inning, continuing the onslaught with a six-run second inning, which included home runs by Ryan Dooley and Henry Garcia.
Pilot starter Brian Ereu went five innings, fanning 8 batters in the victory.
Peninsula moves to 25-9 on the season, extending its winning streak to four games. Next up for the Pilots is a road tilt against the 13-19 Tri-City Chili Peppers in Colonial Heights on Friday.
