Congratulations to Kellie Donovan '30 and Kylie Smith '34, who both received awards for their artistic talents in the Heritage Arts & Crafts Competition at the 2025 Isle of Wight County Fair!
The annual contest is split into three age groups. Artists 10 years old or younger compete in the elementary division, 11 to 17 year olds enter in the junior division and those 18 and older compete in the adult division. The goal of the contest is to celebrate local creativity.
In the junior division, Kellie placed second. She created a watercolor painting of a flower using dyes from leaves and flowers she collected in her yard. She said her mom's love for plants, specifically roses, inspired the piece. The flower featured in the painting is actually from her family's garden.
In the elementary division, Kylie earned a judges' choice award. Her artwork, titled "The High Road," showcased depth on paper.
