Alumni Named National Philanthropy Day Honorees

Shirley Baldwin '78 and Ashley Greene '87

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Hampton Roads Chapter, is recognizing two NSA alumni as philanthropic leaders in the community.

For the AFP's annual National Philanthropy Day celebration, Shirley Baldwin '78 was named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. Ashley Greene '87, who is the director of development with the Western Tidewater Free Clinic, was named Outstanding Fundraising Professional.

The AFP-Hampton Roads Chapter says in addition to Shirley's service to public and private company executives and their businesses providing tax, gift and estate planning services, she has invested incredible time and effort in leading fundraising efforts toward the betterment of the Hampton Roads community.

Ashley has more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit and for-profit development, leading strategic and operational execution of fundraising, stewardship, communications, marketing and public relations.

The AFP-Hampton Roads Chapter currently serves more than 200 development professionals from Virginia Beach to Williamsburg, the Eastern Shore to the Outer Banks and all points in between. The AFP Hampton Roads Chapter offers a variety of professional education and networking opportunities including monthly luncheons, a Fundraising Leadership Symposium and member socials. Each November, AFP-HR sponsors a National Philanthropy Day Celebration. It celebrates difference-makers and decision makers who make our community a better place to live, work and donate. Both Shirley and Ashley will be honored at this year's event on Nov. 7 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, where more than 600 non-profit professionals, philanthropists, volunteers and guests will celebrate the extraordinary change made possible by philanthropy in our community.

Congratulations to Shirley and Ashley!
