Welcome to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of hearing many students refer to NSA as "home." With the student experience at the center of everything we do, NSA is a place where students are engaged in personal growth, inspired to discover their passion and empowered to make a difference in the world. Four Saints Values – character, community, discovery and excellence - exemplify the core values we foster in the NSA community and what it means to be a Saint. Because of the community we foster at NSA, students have the opportunity to try new things, fail and try again, meet new people and collaborate with others – all in a safe environment that feels like home.

Surrounding the students and supporting them in all of their academic, artistic and athletic endeavors are a group of intelligent, talented and passionate faculty and staff members who care deeply about the students, their futures and preparing them for the competitive world ahead. As the most important asset to NSA, the faculty and staff are provided with ongoing professional development to continually refine their craft and incorporate the latest research in education in their classrooms. They are also held to the highest standards in the profession through our Characteristics of Professional Excellence. Our faculty and staff are partners with our NSA families – as an extension of home - and work in tandem to ensure all students reach their individual potential.

Knowing the potential of our students, our Ann S. Powell Office of College Counseling works with each student to find the college or university that is the right fit. Because of the culture at NSA, the endless opportunities and the dedicated faculty and staff, it’s obvious why our students are accepted to the some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country, including MIT, Yale University, Columbia University, Wake Forest University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Pepperdine University and the University of Virginia.

In order to truly understand what NSA is all about and what it means to go to school that feels like ”home,” I encourage you to contact our Office of Admissions today to schedule a tour. I look forward to meeting you soon!

 All my best,

Debbie Russell
