Lower School Classroom — Lower School Classroom

In our Lower School, which includes Kindergarten through grade five, students begin to discover their strengths and build important lifelong learning skills, such as time management, healthy work habits, organizational methods, study skills and test-taking strategies. Many classrooms include flexible seating options that encourage students to discover their unique learning style and to ensure that they are comfortable and ready to learn! Lower School students also change classes for Spanish, physical education, library skills, art and music.

Becky Godwin Memorial Lower School Library — The Becky Godwin Memorial Lower School Library

The Becky Godwin Memorial Lower School Library is designed to nurture a lifelong love of reading by providing a collection of print and electronic resources that support the curriculum and encourage students to become critical thinkers and skillful, responsible users of information.

Helen B. Holland Early School

The Helen B. Holland Early School includes our developmentally appropriate Pre-Kindergarten program for two, three and four year olds. Our youngest Saints thrive in a safe and secure environment where passionate educators are committed to their academic, social and character development. Every classroom includes a lead teacher and a full-time teaching assistant.

Pre-K Multipurpose Room

The multipurpose room provides a large space for our tiniest Saints to explore small group instruction, center play and yoga. Students will also travel to other classrooms to enjoy classes such as Spanish, music, art, library and physical movement.

Members of the Office of Advancement at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy — The Office of Advancement

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's Office of Advancement is responsible for overseeing the fundraising for the school. Beyond tuition, the NSA experience is funded by parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends of the community. This incredible generosity sustains our commitment to excellence to ensure that we are preparing tomorrow’s leaders for a future that is rapidly changing and full of opportunity.

Thomas W. Johnson Gymnasium in the Beazley Center at NSA — Thomas W. Johnson Gymnasium in the Beazley Center

The Thomas W. Johnson Gymnasium in the Beazley Center is another gathering space for schoolwide assemblies, pep rallies and special celebrations. It is also the place where students, parents and alumni cheer on our Saints. Students in grades 6-12 are eligible to try out and compete for our school teams. The Saints compete in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association.

Cafeteria

Students gather by grade in our expansive cafeteria to enjoy a homemade lunch or one that was prepared by our dining service, Flik Independent School Dining. All menu items are prepared from scratch using fresh, whole ingredients and are specifically designed for our students’ needs. This space also includes a stage, and it is transformed for theatre, chorus and grade-level performances and assemblies.
