The National Honor Society at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy recognizes and honors those students who best exemplify a well-rounded and accomplished student. Only those students with career grade averages of 92% or above may be considered for induction into the NHS. A committee of faculty and administrators evaluate all students who meet the academic criterion and determine if the student will be honored as an inductee. While scholarship is important and is considered first, membership is not granted on the basis of grades alone. The Council places equal emphasis on leadership, character, and service. Each year, the National Honor Society urges students to show how they are exemplary in all areas. Once a student is inducted, he or she is asked to participate in community service projects, attend monthly meetings, act as a host for the Underclassman Awards Ceremony, and maintain the standards required by the Society to gain membership. To become a member of the National Honor Society at NSA is one of the highest honors bestowed on the students. |
