The Counseling and Guidance Department at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy offers a comprehensive program that serves students, parents, and faculty. Our counselors practice an “open door” policy with the following goals:

  • To assist students with opportunities for personal growth, academic growth, problem solving, decision making, development of self-esteem and self-worth;
  • To guide students with the course selection process to meet their individual academic goals;
  • To provide support, assistance, and guidance for faculty members;
  • To encourage communication between parents and the school by forming working relationships to better help their child reach their personal and academic potential;

Please feel free to contact the Guidance Department with questions, concerns or comments. To schedule a parent-teacher conference, please contact your student's guidance counselor at the number above.

Parent-Teacher Conference Day was held on Friday, January 25th from 12:30 until 3:30 p.m. If you would like a conference with your child's teacher or teachers, please notify Guidance as follows: Eighth and ninth grader parents can e-mail Deidre Dickens @ ddickens@nsacademy.org or telephone at 539-8789, Ext 3314.
