General School Information

Arrival Time
Student-athletes, drama, band, etc. must be at school by 9:00 a.m. to participate in practice or a game on that day. Students who are not at school by 9:00 a.m. due to illness must have a note from their doctor in order to practice or play that day. Students with a medical note must attend a minimum of two classes in order to practice or play on that day. Chronic tardiness will be addressed by the administration.

Accident Reporting
Any time a student is injured or is involved in an accident anywhere on NSA grounds or during a school sponsored activity, the student should immediately notify his/her teacher, sponsor of the activity or Dean of Students. All accidents must be reported on an accident report form and promptly turned in to the office. Accident forms may be obtained from the nurse.

Announcements
Announcements will be read and written announcements will be posted on the NSA bulletin board to inform students of activities and other pertinent information.

Assembly Programs
Assembly programs are planned to benefit the student body. Students are expected to follow certain procedures for these programs.

Some basic rules are:

  1. Enter the activity quietly and have a seat.
  2. Be respectful to one another and to the guest speaker or performing group.
  3. Remain with your group and depart in the same manner that you entered.
  4. All classes are to sit in assigned sections when instructed to do so.
  5. Students are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly manner at all assemblies.
  6. No books or backpacks are permitted at the assembly.

Cell Phones
Cell phones are permitted at school but are not to be used during the academic day. Cell phones should remain in the student's car or locker and should be turned off. A student using a cell phone during the academic day will receive 5 demerits.

Head Phones
Students may not use head phones during any class period or study hall.

Distribution and Display of Literature and Posters
No posters, literature, leaflets or the like will be distributed or posted without the Headmaster's approval.

Lockers
Lockers are provided for general student use in school corridors and for PE classes in locker room areas. Only locks provided by the school may be used on these lockers.

Parking
Students may park only in designated areas. Spaces will be assigned by grade level. A student will register his/her car in the front office and pay a fee in order to receive a parking pass for the year. Students who park illegally may lose the privilege of driving to school. Students are not allowed to return to their cars during school hours without permission from the front office. This is a ten-demerit offense. Students who drive in a reckless manner jeopardize their privilege to drive to school.

Telephones
Telephones located in the offices are for school business only. Students are to use the pay phones for personal business. Students are not to use the phones during class time. Pay phones may be used during the break, at lunch, and before and after school.

Visitors
All visitors must report to the office and request permission to be on campus. Visitors are expected to conform to school dress code and school rules.

School Nurse
When a student becomes too ill to remain in class, he/she should get a note from the classroom teacher to report to the front office. Students will be sent to the nurse only from the front office. At no time should a student leave school because of illness without permission from the nurse or Headmaster.
