Student Announcements:

1. Juniors, talk to your parents and find out if they have called to schedule a family appointment with a college counselor. Those meetings start in February. Parents should call Mrs. Hubble to schedule an appointment. Students should log onto Naviance and complete the two surveys under the "About Me" tab a week before their meetings.

2. Skateboards are not permitted on the NSA campus. Please be advised that if a student is found skating, the skate board may be confiscated.


3. The 2012-2013 Suffolk Art League/Chip Picot Memorial Student Scholarship for up to $1,500 is available to students currently in grades 5-11. This money is for students to pursue their interest in the visual, performing or literary arts. They may use their scholarship funding for such things as taking classes or lessons, purchase of materials, instruments or equipment, or attending workshops or conferences.The application is due April 27th. An application can be picked up at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave. in downtown Suffolk or by calling the Suffolk Art League office at 925-0448.

4. Sophomores and Juniors are reminded to check their nsacademy.org e-mail accounts to complete the career day options survey by this Friday, February 10th. See Mrs. Long in the front office if you need help with your NSA e-mail account.

5. Sophomores should all have their codes to register on Naviance. They need to access Naviance before Spring Break. See a college counselor if you need help or to get your code!

Juniors must talk to their teachers at least a day in advance if they will miss class for a meeting. It is the student's responsibility to talk to the teacher.


6. ALL girls lacrosse players (grades 9-12) who did NOT come to the meeting at break last week MUST stop by room 301 to see Miss Mayer for some information and to sign up to tryout.  Please do so ASAP.  Remember...tryouts start on TODAY.  We will begin on the track at 3:20 (have your running shoes on).  Pack a bag with cleats, mouthguard, goggles, water bottle and your stick to take out to the field immediately after.   

7. Relay for Life team captains & teacher sponsors are reminded of the meeting at lunch TODAY. We need your help to plan the events in the Kick-Off Assembly. Please get out on the sr. bell, get your lunch & report to the computer lab.

Sports Announcements:
Spring Sports start  TODAY.   All student athletes must have a complete Athletic Physical on file in order to participate.

Golf will begin Feb. 22

Congratulations to our swim teams for their great performance at the State Swim meet over the weekend.  The girl’s team finished 7th over-all and was runner-up Div. II.  Gabrielle Bishop had an outstanding meet and was named female swimmer of the state meet.  Gabrielle was the state champion in the 100, 200,  free and 100 fly. She broke records in the 100 and 200 free.  She now holds the state record in 3 events.

Congratulations to Coach Kim Aston who was named TCIS Girls’ Basketball Coach of the year and to Morgan Lokie, Jessica Pieroni named to the TCIS first team all-conference and Breon Willie second team TCIS all-conference.
