The Swim Team banquet will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 6:30 in the cafeteria for swimmers and their families.  Game day dress is required.

Congratulations to our swim teams for their great performance at the State Swim meet over the weekend.  The girl’s team finished 7th over-all and was runner-up Div. II.  Gabrielle Bishop had an outstanding meet and was named female swimmer of the state meet.  Gabrielle was the state champion in the 100, 200,  free and 100 fly. She broke records in the 100 and 200 free.  She now holds the state record in 3 events.

Congratulations to Coach Kim Aston who was named TCIS Girls’ Basketball Coach of the year and to Morgan Lokie, Jessica Pieroni named to the TCIS first team all-conference and Breon Willie second team TCIS all-conference.

1.  Tuesday, February 14 (Valentine’s Day), will be a spirit day for all. Jeans may be worn with an NSA shirt or sweatshirt. Teams may wear their jerseys. There will be a winter pep rally that day as well. Please make sure the jeans are in good repair and do not wear flip flops.

1. Let your friends and teachers know that you care about them.  Send them a Candygram!  Candygrams will be available from the Interact Club at break and lunch on TODAY.  These will be delivered during the advisee period on Tuesday, Valentine's Day!

Poetry is due Wednesday, February 1, and prose is due Friday, February 10. Art can be submitted in hard copy to the art teachers. Art submissions are due by Friday, February 10.

Student Announcements:

6. Juniors interested in attending the Naval Academy should look into attending one of their week long summer programs. Go to http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/nass.htm for more information.

7. Students, this is your 2nd reminder about being tardy to school. Once you have been tardy 6 times (whether excused or unexcused), you will receive demerits for every additional tardy. Seniors, 3 demerits equals a loss of senior privileges.

8. The 2012-2013 Suffolk Art League/Chip Picot Memorial Student Scholarship for up to $1,500 is available to students currently in grades 5-11. This money is for students to pursue their interest in the visual, performing or literary arts. They may use their scholarship funding for such things as taking classes or lessons, purchase of materials, instruments or equipment, or attending workshops or conferences.The application is due April 27th. An application can be picked up at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave. in downtown Suffolk or by calling the Suffolk Art League office at 925-0448.

9. Sophomores and Juniors are reminded to check their nsacademy.org e-mail accounts to complete the career day options survey by this Friday, February 10th. See Mrs. Long in the front office if you need help with your NSA e-mail account.

11. Students going on the Norway trip: remember the group dinner Sunday night at 6:30pm and the mandatory parent meeting next Monday night at 6:00pm. Check your email for details. See Mrs. Henderson or Ms. Broaddus with any questions.

1. All girls interested in playing Lacrosse please meet in Ms. Mayer’s room (301) during Break TODAY!

2. MCDC club will be showing a film this TODAY @ 3:30 in room 308.  
The film is FREE!  Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase.  If you are planning on attending PLEASE SIGN UP outside room 308 so that we can get an idea of how many people to expect.

3. This is a reminder that underclassmen are not allowed in the building at lunch. Demerits should be expected if a faculty member sees an underclassmen unsupervised in the building.

4. The Relay for Life organizational meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 13 at lunch in the computer lab. This meeting is for teacher sponsors and team captains. We will be brainstorming ideas for the Kick-Off Assembly in April. The theme this year is "Wipe Out Cancer!"
