Objectives
The student will:
- learn about and discuss the history and cultural milieu of the deep South in 1930s;
- demonstrate close textual reading in To Kill a Mockingbird;
- gain an awareness of how one’s society might force its citizens to take unpopular, but moral, stances in order to promote change;
- participate in class discussions on To Kill a Mockingbird;
- write a personal essay on the topic of remembering 9/11, and
- develop their PSAT word mastery and practice passage-based reading skills.
