Extended Day

Each afternoon the Extended Day program is available for students in Early School through grade 7, under the supervision of a director and a qualified staff. The program is committed to providing both the kind of care and guidance found in the home and a wealth of enriching experiences around campus. Children in Early School through grade 4 come directly to Extended Care at the end of each day. Groups are divided by grade level allowing each group to be involved in age appropriate activities. In grade 2 - 4, the children have thirty to forty minutes of supervised homework time before proceeding with the days planned events. Most of their homework can be completed in that time. Upon completion of homework time, books are put away and snack is served. Children then have time for activities, crafts, both indoor and outdoor games and free playtime.

NSA has a beautiful campus and Extended Care group leaders love to take the children exploring or on nature walks. Students also have the opportunity to attend on-campus athletic events and other happenings going on around campus. The Extended Care monthly newsletter keeps parents informed of activities that involve the children. The program operates on school calendar days.

Holiday Care is offered for all lower school children on selected days when the school is closed. Holiday Care is opened from 7:45 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Supervised Study

Supervised Study Groups for grades 5 - 7 meet every afternoon until 4:30 p.m. Students are monitored as they work on homework. This program does not provide tutorial assistance. Children remaining after 4:30 p.m. join their group leader in Extended Care where they put away their books and enjoy planned games and activities or just socializing with friends.

Extended Care is licensed by The Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Social Services.
