Early School is a developmentally appropriate program for four-year old children on the campus of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. The program is designed to meet the needs of the whole child, which include social, emotional, physical, and academic areas of growth. An Early Childhood Specialist, three teachers with degrees in Early Childhood and/or Child Development, and assistants serve the program. The four classes (3 for four-year-olds and 1 for three-year-olds) maintain a maximum student-teacher ratio of eight to one, but usually the ratio is much lower, offering frequent opportunities for the individual attention.
