Program Highlights

Norway

Arriving from Moss, Norway, 18 students stepped on American soil for the first time! As Foreign Exchange students at NSA, these student ambassadors immersed themselves in American Culture through first-hand living experiences and interactions with their American peers.

During their two-week stay, Norwegian High School students resided with NSA host families while attending classes and engaging in extra-curricular activities. Field trips to Virginia Beach, Jamestown and Williamsburg were taken while students also enjoyed the simple teenage pleasures of pizza parties, pep rallies, and football games. The program afforded an opportunity for all to learn from one another.

NSA students will travel abroad in the Spring for the chance to forge international friendships and learn more about the Norwegian culture.

Haiti

Haitian citizen, Jean-Louis's story, visibly moved students at NSA. With an estimated 1.2 million orphans and vulnerable children in his country, the statistics paint a grim picture of the situation in Haiti, and for its children, in particular. It is with this information that NSA students and faculty have realized the importance of strengthening their intervention to reach these children.

During a student assembly, Mr. Lefort Jean-Louis came to NSA to tell his story. And while there has been much accomplished, there is still much more to be done. As the Haitian Awareness Group at NSA worked to publicize current events about the country's condition, the rest of the student body was very generous in donating money to sponsor an orphan and to support the Haitian Coffee fundraiser. To date, NSA students have raised more the $500!
