Frequently Asked Questions

How do I arrange a tour?
Please call the Office of Admissions to arrange a convenient date for a tour of the campus. The Office of Admissions strives to schedule individual tours. Tours and visits occur throughout the year. Prospective students are invited to attend classes and functions with current students. (Arrangements are made by the Director of Admissions.)

How do I access an application? What are the costs?
Applications are available in the Office of Admissions, as well as on the website. The non-refundable application fee is $25.00.

What test is employed in the admissions process? What are the costs?
Applicants for grades 2-12 take the Reading Comprehension and Mathematics segments of the ERB. A writing sample completed at the time of testing is also required. Specific readiness tests are required for Kindergarten and Grade 1 applicants. (There is no test for Early School applicants. Developmental readiness is assessed early in the academic year.) The testing fee is $25.00.

How are admissions decisions made?
While the Director of Admissions is directly responsible for inquiries, tours, testing and interviews, admissions decisions are made by the Admissions Committee. (Decisions cannot be finalized until the applicant has submitted all required materials.)

What is the wait-pool?
If a specific grade has achieved its optimal level of enrollment, a wait-pool is created. If openings occur, the Admissions Committee considers those qualified applicants with the earliest application date; other significant factors include if the applicants are children of current patrons, alumni and staff, and former patrons.

What is the financial aid policy? How do I acquire an application?
While NSA believes that it is the individual family's responsibility to finance educational costs, it employs a need-based financial aid policy. Applicants must submit a PFS (Parents' Financial Statement) by March 28, 2008. The information can be accessed at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss. Applicants must then submit by April 15, 2008 a copy of the 2007 tax returns to the Office of Admissions. It is extremely important to meet these deadlines. The Financial Aid Committee determines the amount, if any, of aid offered. Families seeking aid must submit the appropriate material each academic year.
