Welcome

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, founded in 1966, is an independent, non-profit, coeducational, college-preparatory day school, which offers an academic program encompassing pre-kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Governed by a Board of Trustees, the Academy seeks to admit students who are prepared to enter an academically challenging educational environment. To prepare students for success in a pluralistic society, the Academy pursues diversity as a component of a selective enrollment process.

Message from the Head of School, Mr. Shane A. Foster

Headmaster Foster Shane A. Foster

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is a school community that encourages and expects the development of good character and academic excellence. It is our expectation that all students will demonstrate honesty in all endeavors, tolerance and respect for the individual, a positive work ethic, a generous spirit, self-control, cooperation, and patience. Thus, each student will have the opportunity to maximize his/her potential and achieve his/her personal and academic goals.

The success of each individual is dependent upon the cooperative efforts of students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Parents who demonstrate clearly to their children that they fully support the policies and standards of NSA enable us to more fully assist their child. It is imperative that each student be a contributing member of our school community and fully adheres to our CODE OF CONDUCT and HONOR CODE. We urge your careful reflection and discussion of the information contained in this handbook. Excellence must be our mutual goal.
