Susan Towler read the minutes from February.

Hospitality report- Anne Milburn has continued to co-ordinate snacks for the teacher’s lounge. She has plans for teacher appreciation week and will report back at the next meeting.

PTO Blue and Gold Salutes have started with 4 students ‘saluted’ in March. Leslie Forrest has made at PTO Salute bulletin board outside the lower school office. Terri Roux has designed and distributed the certificates.

Science night- Cindy Mears has gotten good response for help from the PTO parent list and has filled all requested slots.

Math Game Night- Report by Tonya Jones
Date- April 27th, Friday from 6:30 to 8:30
Suggestions made included:
* Using a theme
* Offering prizes, refreshments
* Having a Math passport with stickers or stamps
* Playing games such as Backgammon and Dominos
* Offering free homework passes
* PTO prizes for the class with the best attendance
* Having music and a CD with number theme songs
* Sending home notices stapled to assignment pads

Susan Towler will contact Trish Forman about using the popcorn machine
Rene Clark will be in charge of decorations- suggestion of color codes for difficulty level
Susan Towler will check on a registration desk

Mary Dewing appointed a nominating committee for next year’s officers. The nominating committee consists of Mary Dewing, Rene Clark and Trish Forman.

By-Laws update- These need to be addressed. Suggested changes will be emailed to members.

Robin Hardee expressed her concern that the PTO should encourage parent involvement by offering contests, dinners, concerts, etc to involve more parents and children. She suggested continuing the Fall Festival activities that will involve an entire school interaction. She also suggested a Spring BBQ/Covered dish dinner. This could take place at the Gazebo. Member suggestions included a RSVP list, a concert by the band or chorus, games offered by the upper school clubs, and a ‘bring a chair’ theme. May 20th was a proposed date. Mary Dewing will check on the date and discuss this plan with Mr. Foster and Mrs. Webb.
