NSA’s Annual Golf Tournament Features A Helicopter Drop

Suffolk, VA May 5, 2009- Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is pleased to announce the 14th Annual Art Jones Memorial Golf Tournament on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Held at Nansemond River Golf Course, this tournament will benefit NSA’s Athletic Program, and the Endowment Fund.

Mr. Dick Hanson, CEO of Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health Systems, is this year’s Honorary Chairman. For the fifth consecutive year under Hanson’s leadership, the tournament has grown from raising $17,000 in 2005 to $65,000 in 2008. Mr. Hanson will be the sole judge for the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop that will take place on the day of the tournament. For a $10 donation, supporters may purchase a pre-numbered ticket to match a numbered golf ball in the helicopter. At approximately 5:30 p.m. (weather permitting), the golf balls will be released from the helicopter. The ticket holder whose number matches the ball that lands closest to the pre-designated target will be awarded $1000 in cash. The holder of the ticket corresponding to the second closest ball will receive $250 in cash. The holders of the tickets corresponding to the 3rd, 4th & 5th closest balls will receive $50 in cash. Supporters do not need to be present to win.

This shotgun start, four person team, best ball tournament, is a great way for clients and friends to enjoy a wonderful afternoon on the course and help raise money for NSA’s athletic programs.
